Description

A self-employed Personal Assistant is required to support an active and outgoing female employer for 9 hours per week. She has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair when out and about, with a walker for short distances. With the right support, she leads a full and varied life and enjoys being out in the community.

The employer has a strong sense of independence, enjoys trying new things and values positive risk-taking. She is sociable, creative and open to new experiences, and is looking for a confident, reliable PA who will work alongside her to enable choice, independence and enjoyment in everyday life.

The role combines practical support with encouragement, enabling the client to continue doing the things she enjoys and to explore new opportunities in a safe and empowering way.

The client enjoys swimming and requires a supportive PA to help her enter, exit, and move safely in the pool, as well as to assist with dressing and undressing before and after swimming, enabling her to participate confidently and safely.

Key responsibilities

Provide personal care, including assistance with toileting, dressing, and transfers as required

Support the employer to get ready to go out and assist with getting in and out of the car

Prepare for outings, including packing and managing a wheelchair bag and supporting wheelchair use in the community

Accompany and support the employer to social, leisure, and community activities

Encourage independence, dignity, choice, and participation in new activities

Essential requirements

Great communication skills

Flexibility & adaptability to adapt to changing demands or unexpected situations

Relevant Training/Qualifications

Proof of self-employment in the UK, insurance & DBS check

Driver with access to their own vehicle and business insurance

Data Protection and Confidentiality – follows UK GDPR regulations
