Description
We are looking for a Personal Assistant to support an individual who is a gentle, quiet lady and values a calm and reassuring environment. She responds particularly well to someone with a soft, patient nature who is dementia-aware and able to offer clear, kind guidance and gentle direction.
The individual has a creative background and previously enjoyed making cards, crafting, baking, and completing jigsaw puzzles. With the right support and encouragement, she would welcome opportunities to re-engage in these meaningful activities at her own pace.
She enjoys the companionship of dogs and finds comfort in their presence.
The role will involve preparing meals and offering prompts to eat, as well as providing support with personal care, including gentle prompting and assistance with toileting. You will also help to maintain a tidy and comfortable home environment, support with shopping, and assist with mobility, as the individual uses a wheelchair due to limited mobility.
An important part of the role is supporting the individual to reconnect with the community and reduce feelings of loneliness. This includes accompanying her to suitable social activities such as the memory café, outings for a cup of tea, and attending Hayle Day Centre.
