A lovely young man in Helston is looking for a kind and supportive Personal Assistant to join his small team. He has a variety of complex needs, including epilepsy, visual impairment, four-limb cerebral palsy, and is a wheelchair user. Because of this, we’re looking for someone who already has, or is willing to complete, the relevant training - especially around epilepsy awareness.
This young man is non-verbal, but he communicates in his own ways and absolutely loves connecting with the people around him. Your main role to begin with would be offering companionship and helping him enjoy the things he loves most: listening to music, being read to, and getting out and about when possible.
He currently attends a course at Truro College three days a week (Monday to Wednesday), and support would fit around this.
If you’re someone who is patient, caring, and enjoys making a positive difference in someone’s day-to-day life, this could be a really rewarding role.
