Description

We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Personal Assistant to support a gentleman, who is quadriplegic and uses an electric wheelchair. The role involves assisting with getting up and dressed, personal care, nutrition and hydration, and safe transfers using manual handling equipment (including a ceiling hoist). You will also help with household chores, light care of his dogs while his wife is at work, and enable him to access the community for shopping and social outings. He lives with his wife and requires one-to-one support at all times to promote his safety, wellbeing, and independence. Experience with manual handling equipment and a confident, proactive approach are essential.

Key responsibilities

Assist with getting up, dressing and preparing for the day

Provide support with all aspects of personal care, including toileting, washing and grooming

Support safe transfers using required manual handling equipment, including ceiling hoist

Assist with nutrition and hydration, including meal preparation

Carry out light household chores as needed to maintain a safe and comfortable home environment

Support with caring for dogs when required

Promote safety, wellbeing and independence at all times

Work collaboratively with existing Personal Assistants to ensure continuous one-to-one support

Essential requirements

Confident, proactive approach

Experience with manual handling equipment

Hold a full, clean UK driving licence

Hold a current Enhanced DBS
