Description

This role involves supporting an eighteen-year-old woman who enjoys exploring the community, learning new things, and growing independence. The individual has Autism, POTS Syndrome which can cause dizziness, fast heart rate, fainting, and fatigue when changing movement, Vestibular Migraines leading to further dizziness, nausea, and vomiting, Asthma, and a physical condition that can affect mobility.

The young woman has a love for buses and public transport and enjoys bus watching. They prefer calm, quiet environments and may find busy or loud places challenging. They enjoy accessing the community, attending local groups such as SEN clubs, planning activities, and going to shows and musicals.

A calm, patient, and understanding Personal Assistant is needed to provide support in a way that is reassuring, confidence building, and responsive to changing health needs. Must be an animal lover and comfortable around dogs.

Key responsibilities

Support the young person to access the community safely and confidently.

Assist with attending activities, clubs, shows, and hobbies such as bus watching.

Help plan enjoyable activities based on their interests and comfort levels.

Support use of public transport, including routes, tickets, and travel reassurance.

Provide calm support if symptoms such as dizziness or fatigue occur

Encourage confidence and independence at a comfortable pace.

Communicate clearly and respectfully while promoting choice and control.

Support with light meal preparation.

Occasional help to take clothes to launderette.

Essential requirements

Great communication skills

Relevant Training/Qualifications

Eligibility to work in the UK

Flexibility & adaptability to adapt to changing demands or unexpected situations

DBS Check, references and standard training (can be provided free)

Driving license and access to your own vehicle + business insurance

Data Protection and Confidentiality – follows UK GDPR regulations
