Description

A reliable and supportive Personal Assistant is required to help an individual with Muscular Dystrophy live independently. The person is a full-time wheelchair user and enjoys being outdoors, especially woodland walks and spending time in nature. Support is needed with daily living tasks, mobility, personal care, and accessing the community. This role is ideal for someone patient, compassionate, and confident delivering hands-on support.

Key responsibilities

Assist with getting in and out of bed using a hoist

Provide all aspects of personal care, washing, showering, dressing, and toileting

Support with meal preparation and light household tasks

Assist with attending meetings, appointments, shopping trips, and social visits

Provide support when out in the community

Promote independence, dignity, and safety always

Personal attributes, experience and training required

Motivated, reliable, and trustworthy

Willingness to learn and adapt to the client’s needs

Good communication skills with a respectful and dignified approach

Experience delivering personal care is helpful but not essential

Manual handling training (or willingness to complete training)

Comfortable supporting someone with mobility needs, including hoist use

Patient, calm, and confident when working in a person’s home and out in the community

Eligibility to work in the UK

Flexibility & adaptability to adapt to changing demands or unexpected situations

DBS Check, references and standard training (can be provided free)

Full driving licence. Will be required to drive the clients wheelchair accessible van.

Proof of self-employment in the UK, insurance & DBS check (if self-employed)
